Dear Friends and Neighbors:

During my five years on Naples City Council, my overriding goal has been to keep our city moving on the right path forward – a path that I believe most residents share. That is why elections are so important. They determine the future direction of a community.

On March 19, Naples will hold its next election. I write to you today to ask for your support for Linda Penniman, who is running for Naples City Council.

I have known and worked with Linda for years on a variety of important public issues. There is no one in public life in Naples whom I respect more or I think is more qualified to serve on our City Council. Here are a few qualities that set her apart from the other candidates:

  • Linda brings direct, relevant experience to this position, illustrated by her five years serving on City Council (2014-2019) and her prior service on the Planning Advisory Board and Coastal Advisory Committee. She has also served on and often led local non-profit boards, homeowner associations, and civic entities. No on-the-job training required here!
  • Linda is independent. She is not controlled by any outside special interests nor bankrolled by secretive PAC money, like some other candidates in the race.
  • Linda has knowledge of the issues. In her non-profit and civic work as well as her past public service, Linda has studied and worked on issues like water quality and resiliency, infrastructure investment, and land use planning. If elected, she will not need a primer to understand what is coming before Council and how to make the best decisions.

Linda’s priorities, as she has made clear at candidate forums and in her campaign material, include: public safety (supporting our first responders to keep our town safe), protecting our town from over-development, and investing in the infrastructure necessary to keep Naples resilient.

Acting on each of these priorities will ensure the high quality of life we enjoy here can continue!

Linda and I share the same core values, passion for helping our community be even better, and commitment to sound and effective local government. Linda will bring her independent, thoughtful approach to public service to our city council. And I know Linda and I will work together to help Council reach the best decisions for the entire community.

I urge you to vote for Linda in the upcoming Naples City Council election and to encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

This election, more than most, will determine the future direction that our city will take! Thank you for listening.

Best regards,
